Through its growing suite of Leadership Programs, Democracy House is building a nonpartisan and intergenerational movement to defend, strengthen, and improve democracy. These programs are specifically designed to empower young leaders ages 18-25 by providing the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary for active and informed participation.

Current Programs
Our slate of leadership programs currently consists of:
Young Leaders Summer Institute (YLSI): A virtual program that provides young adults with an introduction to civic leadership. Participants engage in an intensive curriculum over the summer that provides a highly personalized, immersive experience with a community-based learning cohort. (June-August 2025)
Young Leaders Civic Action Program (YLCAP): Following their successful completion of YLSI, accepted alumni join YLCAP to develop and launch a semester-long civic action project in their community or on their college campus. YLCAP provides participants with in-depth training in organizing practices to build their leadership skills, and an opportunity to apply their learning to strengthen democracy. (January-April 2025)
